Setting up a New Moon Altar

Setting up a New Moon Altar

The new moon is a time to set our intentions for the month ahead. It's a time to reflect on what we want to manifest in our lives and create space for new beginnings. One of my favorite ways to honor this time is by setting up a new moon altar.

An altar is a sacred space where you can go to connect with your higher power, whatever that may be. It's a place to reflect, to meditate, and to give thanks. When you create an altar specifically for the new moon, you are infusing it with all of your intentions for what you want to create in your life.

Items To Include On Your New Moon Altar
There are many different items that you can include on your new moon altar. The most important thing is that you choose items that have personal meaning to you and that make you feel connected to the divine. Here are some ideas to get you started:

-A candle: Candlelight is said to represent the light of the divine. Choose a white or gold candle for your new moon altar as these colors represent purity and enlightenment.

-Crystals: Crystals are said to amplify the energy of your intentions. Use crystals that correspond with your specific intentions for your new moon altar. For example, if you are trying to manifest more money, use green aventurine or citrine. If you are trying to manifest love, use rose quartz or amethyst. If you are looking for guidance, use sodalite or tiger's eye.

-Images: Choose images that represent what you want to manifest in your life. This could be an image of a loved one if you are trying to manifest more love in your life, or an image of a pet if you are hoping to manifest a new furry friend. You could even choose an image of yourself doing something that you dream of doing someday if you are trying hard to manifest a specific goal. Get creative! The sky's the limit here.

-Flowers: Flowers are beautifully symbolic and can be used to represent lots of different things depending on their type and color. For example, roses represent love while daisies represent innocence and purity. Choose flowers that have meaning for you and arrange them in a way that feels pleasing to you.

An altar is simply a sacred space where you can connect with your intentions and the energy of the universe. By creating an altar dedicated to the new moon, you're tapping into the powerful energy of this phase of the lunar cycle and using it to support your intentions. Here's how to get started...

First, choose a spot for your altar. This can be a table, shelf, or any other surface where you have room to arrange your items. Once you've selected a spot, clear away any clutter or anything that doesn't contribute to the feeling of sacred space.

Next, gather items for your altar. This is where you get to be creative! Some ideas for items to include are:

- A bowl of water for cleansing and purification
- A crystal or stone that corresponds with your intention (for example, rose quartz for love or amethyst for protection)
- A candle in a color that corresponds with your intention
- Images or symbols that represent your intention
- Anything else that feels special or significant to you!

Arrange your items on your altar in whatever way feels right to you. There is no "right" way to do this - trust your intuition and go with what feels good. Once you've arranged everything to your liking, take a few moments to sit quietly with your altar. Close your eyes and visualize your intention coming into fruition. Feel the energy of the new moon supporting you as you move forward towards your goal. When you're ready, blow out the candle and thank the universe for its guidance.

Taking some time at the beginning of each month to connect with our intentions is a powerful way to create positive change in our lives. By setting up a new moon altar, we tap into the powerful energy of this phase of the lunar cycle and use it as support on our journey. Give it a try yourself - it's fun, easy, and anyone can do it!
